Zelliges

Zelliges are small, hand-cut mosaics of glazed ceramic tiles originating in Morocco. These traditional decorative elements have a long history and represent an ancient art form dating back centuries. Zelliges are characterized by their beauty, intricate geometric patterns and vibrant colors. They are often used to decorate walls, floors, fountains and ceilings, adding an exotic and refined touch to architecture.

The production of zelliges is a meticulous, hand-crafted process. Artisans begin by shaping terracotta tiles, then glazing them with natural or artificial pigments. Next, they cut the glazed tiles, usually square in shape, and assemble them to form intricate patterns. Zelliges can be used individually or assembled to create compositions or credenzas.
