Old flat tiles

Ref: Old flat tiles (Tui02)

Antique flat roof tiles have reddish tones. Old flat tiles are typical of landscapes from Burgundy to Normandy, and to some extent in Quercy and Béarn. The patina and curvature of old flat tiles are the result of their artisanal manufacture. Made from a variety of clays, with tones ranging from bright red to orange-yellow depending on where they were extracted, these old flat tiles were once handmade. Air-dried after removal from the mould, they were then fired in a wood-fired kiln. Depending on their location, the tiles were more or less well fired, with irregularities that have become their trademark. If you want to rediscover the charm of the roofs of yesteryear, don't hesitate to use old, recycled flat tiles.
