Each pattern is prepared in a French workshop, often to size, so a US project can be quoted with measurements given in both centimeters and inches.<\/p><h2>What makes parquet &#8220;French&#8221;: reclaimed oak and traditional patterns<\/h2><p>Our parquet is not an imitation: it is made of real boards reclaimed from old houses, country houses in different regions of France and old buildings, then reworked for installation. At Provence Mat\u00e9riaux Anciens, this preparation takes place in our joinery workshop in Comps, in the Gard department of southern France.<\/p><p>We specialize in restoring old oak parquet and always keep a large stock of antique parquet, so we can answer each project. Our parquet is made of oak; antique fir, in a light tone, is also available as boards. Ours is recreated from antique oak boards: the old boards are reworked and assembled to recreate the traditional Versailles parquet. It is prepared in our joinery workshop. Our honey finish comes from a surface treatment of the old boards, which gives light tones.<\/p><p>This parquet is made to measure and is constantly available. This laying style is more recent than herringbone and brings the charm of the bourgeois houses of the past. The boards average 100 to 250 cm in length (about 39 to 98 in), 10 to 25 cm in width (about 4 to 10 in) and 2 to 2.5 cm in thickness (about 0.8 to 1 in), in three finishes: <a href=\"https:\/\/provence-materiaux-anciens.com\/en\/product\/floors\/floor-parquet\/oak-flooring\/antique-oak-parquet\/\">honey oak<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/provence-materiaux-anciens.com\/en\/product\/floors\/floor-parquet\/oak-flooring\/antique-oak-floor\/\">brushed<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/provence-materiaux-anciens.com\/en\/product\/floors\/floor-parquet\/oak-flooring\/antique-oak-flooring\/\">sanded<\/a>. They can be laid as flooring or used as ceiling boards.<\/p><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/provence-materiaux-anciens.com\/en\/product\/floors\/floor-parquet\/antique-fir-flooring\/antique-fir-flooring\/\">antique fir flooring<\/a>, reclaimed from old buildings, has light colors. Its boards average 150 to 360 cm in length (about 59 to 142 in), 10 to 35 cm in width (about 4 to 14 in) and 2 to 2.5 cm in thickness; sizes vary from one batch to another. It is used on floors as well as on ceilings.<\/p><p>Finally, our <a href=\"https:\/\/provence-materiaux-anciens.com\/en\/product\/floors\/floor-parquet\/parquet-floors\/antique-wood-parquet\/\">antique wood parquet<\/a> in 18th-century oak is a solid parquet with a patina shaped by the years. It can be laid in the \u00e9chelle (ladder) style or the \u00e0 l\u2019anglaise (English) style, and its dimensions vary with each arrival of stock.<\/p><h2>Finishes and tones: from honey oak to brushed reclaimed wood<\/h2><p>The honey finish comes from a surface treatment of the old boards that gives lighter tones: on baton rompu, it is the one we offer for a more modern look. Brushed is offered on our old oak flooring and sanded on our antique oak flooring, and both are offered ready to lay.
